Our brand new site is in progress, please excuse the disarray.

What we're about....

Information within this site focuses mostly on Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and its surrounding neighborhoods, but you will find many resources listed for areas nearby, county- and state-wide. This site focuses on resources for the 50+'ers and retired seniors, but the stuff to do and places to go are listed for every age group.

If you're retired, living in Pittsburgh, thinking about retiring to Pittsburgh, and are 50+, this site is especially for you.
If you have and keep the right attitude, and stay healthy and active, you can be what's called a "Pittsburgher in Paradise"...
If you're armed with info that helps you do and achieve just that.

If you are a healthy retiree or senior who is active, and know others who are not, you can reach out and help them remain healthy and active, or get the help they might need. We all eventually become ill or disabled with age-related disorders, and unable to do certain things we used to be able to do. But many seniors are still able to enjoy many of the activities and experiences available to us.
If we know where we can pursue them

 - You can arm yourself with knowledge, and protect yourself and your best interests, do what you damn well please with your time and finances, until you can't. And you can do it responsibly.

 - You can devote more time your hobby or start a new one, learn about what resources you can dip into that's geared toward your needs, and take advantage of all the free things you are entitled to and worked for decades to earn and receive.

 - You don't have to be bored and isolated late in life if you don't want to be. That's true just about anywhere you live in retirement.
Even if all you can or want to do is cruise the internet, read and educate yourself, and learn new, and some fascinating, although not-necessarily useful, things. There's a world of knowledge, experience and entertainment out there. And a lot is free.

If you want to stay involved in, or even start a small or cottage business, there's no reason you can't be part of that. You can even share your knowledge as a mentor to young entrepreneurs or at-risk teenagers.

Pittsburgh has many institutions of higher learning where you can continue your education, get that set-aside or forgotten degree, take advantage of community continuing education opportunities, community centers, free art and crafting classes, free transportation for seniors, and a lot of hospitals and medical professionals for your on-going medical needs.
You can learn to navigate your own life, whatever stage it's in, based on your own abilities and desires. With access to information and with assistance of professionals.

This site contains easy-to-digest info on where things are, who does what, where to get the help you need, if and when you need it. Use this site to learn more about what you might like to do with your well-earned retirement years, want or need to make or keep you happy, independent and active for as long as possible.
You can make your retirement and senior years what you want them to be in a lot of practical ways.
I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when i grow up ~ It will get bumpy, but I intend to enjoy the ride.

This is not a business directory -
The posted links or listings are a resource and many are government entities.
We rarely recommend, and do not verify, the quality of service of privately-owned enterprises or the veracity of their mission statements or track records. This especially goes for healthcare, nursing and senior living facilities and other private enterprises.
Visit them in person.

- You will find no ads or spamming here to distract, intrude or annoy, and we don't do pop ups. We hate ads and pop-ups.
- We do not save, share or collect personal information of any kind. We house no malware.
- Pittsburghers.org is an independent entity and is not owned or sponsored by any groups or organizations.
Just the facts as we know them are what you'll find here.

Viewing our site - Our site is large, and the pages are ntentionally image- and information-intensive. It is optimized for viewing on pc's, tablets and laptops. It is not optimized for cell phones. If you must view our site on your phone, adjust your phone settings to a larger font and "desktop site", "full view", or "landscape, if necessary.

But, really...... we look our awesomest on a big screen.
