Senior Citizens age 65 or
older who present a Pennsylvania Senior Citizen ID Card or a Senior
ConnectCard at the time of fare payment ride for free.
The Senior Citizen ConnectCard allows
seniors to ride our and other public transit vehicles for free across
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Ths is what it looks like:

Simply tap your card at the fare box
and be on your way.
If you apply at the Downtown Service
Center, you will receive your Senior Citizen ConnectCard
immediately.
If you apply at another location, your Senior Citizen ConnectCard will
be mailed to that location, where you can pick it up after receiving a
letter in the mail.
You can also apply for a card at your
state rep.'s office.
For
those who cannot take public transportation
ACCESS - A Door-to-Door, Shared
Ride Service
Serving all areas of Allegheny County
6 AM to Midnight, 7 days per week
365 days per year
ACCESS service is open to the
general public, but primarily serves people with disabilities, clients
of human service agencies and people aged 65 and over.
The ACCESS program is sponsored by Pittsburgh Regional Transit.
ACCESS is a coordinated,
shared-ride paratransit service, which has been providing door-to-door,
advanced reservation transportation in Allegheny County since 1979.
This unique public-private partnership leverages eleven separate federal
and state funding sources to create an affordable mobility option for
riders.
ACCESS service is provided by five service providers with 270
vehicles.
Same-Day Transportation: ACCESS program staff are available by phone
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.at

- Call your local service provider
Monday-Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to request a trip.
- Same-day trips can be scheduled for
pick-up as late as 8:00 p.m.
- Same-day trips are not guaranteed,
but service providers will make every effort to accommodate your
request.
- Please call at least 1 hour in
advance of your requested pick-up time.
- No additional cost or trip purpose
restrictions.
A to B: An online concierge tool to
help riders find options based on their needs, preferences, and
abilities.
The tool currently includes 28 options from 20 transportation
providers in the county, including those serving older riders, riders
with disabilities, and more.
The tool was developed in collaboration with transportation providers
and advocates.
To use A to B,
visit AtoBAllegheny.com, answer a few
questions, and get a list of options that may work for you.
A to B is free and anonymous, and takes about 10 minutes to
use.
It is not designed to plan a specific trip, but rather to connect riders
with possible options.
The Medical Assistance
Transportation Program (MATP)
provides free transportation to and from non-emergency medical
appointments for people on Medicaid.
You May Qualify to Use MATP If
- You are eligible for Medicaid
- You are a resident of Allegheny
County
MATP Can Provide
- Free public transportation (bus,
subway and incline) ahead-of-time tickets
- Reimbursement for your use of public
transportation or a private car
- Free door-to-door service, when
medically necessary, via shared-ride or ride-hailing service
*MATP is required by law to provide the least costly, most
appropriate transportation service available that fits a rider’s
needs.

prescription medication (not available with ride-hailing)

OPT Provides
- Service 7 days per week 6 AM to

cost
- Help getting on and off vehicle
- Help up and down steps (four or
fewer)

Trip Limitations
For Adult Day Services
Rider must
- be an Area Agency on Aging Options
Care Managed Participant and
- have approval for adult day
services
Medical Trips
- Those on Medical Assistance - must
use MATP
- Age 60 through 64 - must get prior
approval through the Allegheny County DHS Area Agency on Aging
- Age 65 and older - two round-trips
per month
- More than two maintenance-therapy
trips (e. g. dialysis, chemo, physical) may be authorized
Grocery Shopping Trips -
limited
- For groups of four or more to same
location

Schedule a Ride
You must be registered to ride.
Call your local carrier before 3:00
pm, one weekday before your trip. (Friday for a Monday trip)
Provide
- Your full name, address and phone
number
- Trip details
- Date/time of appointment
- Pick up time (allow at least
one hour for delays)
- Address of destination
(Doctor's name and phone number, if applicable)
- Return time (or "will
call," before 5:00 pm, if uncertain)
- List of your special needs
